Camp Berean Way is an overnight, Bible teaching camp for boys and girls ages 8-17—one week only, every summer! It’s a ministry of Calvary Chapel, a non-denominational church in Jackson Township. CBW was established in 1976 to give kids the time of their lives while making sure they know about God’s free gift of salvation. It’s not our goal to recruit members for our fellowship or talk about contentious doctrinal issues that are not essential to salvation. We want to present the positive, life-changing message of Christ’s love for us to kids from all walks of life and all parts of the world.
We rent the facilities of YMCA Camp Y-Noah, on the border of Stark and Summit counties, where we offer swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, crafts, fishing, archery, climbing walls, campfires, team games, and a whole lot more! Three meals a day and two snacks are included in the camp fee. There are NO extra costs, and through donations by members of Calvary Chapel and others who have been touched by CBW, we are able to offer many discounts, as well. See the News section for more information on fees and discounts.
Campers stay in a cabin with 6-12 other boys or girls in their age group, along with one or two adult counselors. Our counselors are volunteers from Calvary Chapel and other area churches; they give up a week of their summer because they love the Lord and love kids. Most of our counselors are former campers and/or parents of campers. Two times a day, we have chapel — a time of singing and learning from God’s Word — that is specifically geared to each age group. Kids from ages 8-10 are Junior campers, 10-13 year olds are Rangers, and 13 and up are Seniors. For the overlapping ages, the camper’s parents decide which age group fits their child’s needs the best. Camp Berean Way offers a week of encouragement and fun, right before the school year starts. By the time we all go home on Friday, the kids are built up by a deepening relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and by the friendships they have made with the other kids and their counselors. CBW has made a difference in a lot of lives!
We encourage you to explore the website and find out more about Camp Berean Way. Registration forms for 2012 will be printed in late winter, and we’d love to be mailing one or two to your family! Contact us to put yourself on our mailing list or ask us any questions.
